I found out from searching that Windows 2000 doesn't have the ability to read wireless networks straight away like what XP and later can do and that a third party software needs to be installed to get it to do that. Once I get that installed, then hopefully w2k can read wireless networks and that'll solve this problem once and for all. I'll report back on my results once I know.
